Urine Acidity in Dogs

My male dog of 3 years has just had a n urostomy performed as he had bladder stones & one got caught in his urethra shaft. His vet has told me that his condition is hereditary & that I need to reduce the acidity & crystals in his urine and make his urine more alkaline. Are there any herbs that you recommend to put in his food to lower acidity & prevent further bladder stones from forming?
