What are the best herbs to use for daily supplement for horses? For proper joint movement, calmness (spook free/desensitized), etc. I take One-A-Day vitamins, and would like to give my horse the same care. Please see the postings on this website (www.richters.com) entitled, "Herbs to Grow for Horses", and "Tense Horses". Herbs typically involved in equine diet supplementation include: burdock (Arctium lappa), calendula (Calendula officinalis), chamomile (Matricaria recutita), clivers (Galium aparine), couch grass (Agropyren repens), dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-gracum), garlic (Allium sativum), kelp (Fucus spp.), meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), nettle (Urtica dioica), parsley (Petroselinum crispum), rosehips (Rosa canina), vervain (Verbena officinalis) and yarrow (Achillea millifolium). Foods are also a good source of vitamins and minerals: apples, cabbage, carrots, cider vinegar, oats, parsnips, peas, turnips and watercress.
