Caper Bush

Three years ago I retired from the Pinellas County Cooperative Extension Service and Florida Botanical Gardens. During my 25 years there, I managed our demonstration and educational herb garden. But I've tried in vain, to germinate the seeds of caper bush. Mainly, I had to buy dormant seed, which gave little, if any germination. I have a small backyard nursery with cacao and coffee seedlings and other exotics, which I'm striving to eventually place on consignment for retail sales at several family-owned local nurseries. I recently bought several caper bushes, by phone from your Richter's Herbs. My question is,"What is the named selection or variety, I purchased?" I realize that some commercial varieties are thornless. And those I bought, were they started from seeds or cuttings(slips)?

Our caper bushes are all grown from seeds. Normally we try to get the thornless variety. But seed grown material can always vary in form and it is always possible that a few individuals will have thorns.
