Could you please tell me anything you know about Berggarten sage? It is the most beautiful sage plant I have ever seen.
Berggarten is a German cultivar of the garden sage, Salvia officinalis. It has the same flavour and uses as the garden variety, but its leaves are rounder and wider, and its growth habit is more compact. It reaches 45 cm (18 inches) in height, forming clumps spreading up to 1 m (3 feet) wide. It is a perennial, rated hardy in zones 5 to 8.
There are no seeds for this variety. It is propagated by cuttings or division only. Like all of the garden sages, it prefers well-drained, slightly alkaline soil and full sun exposure. Sages do not do well in humid areas where mildew is a problem.
