I'm interested in planting herbs in the West Indies. Are there any plants which are better and more condusive to the tropical heat and soil conditions? What can I not grow? Are there any other facts that I need to know?
There are many herbs that you can grow with very little effort in your climate. Any of the herbs listed in our catalogue as TP are tender perennials in our climate and will usually do better in the tropics. The exceptions are plants that may be tender in our Zone 5 climate but require the winter freezing of a slightly warmer zone.
You would have problems with tarragon, since it needs a cold winter rest. Chives have the same limitation. Plants that find our season too short will do well for you. An example is turmeric and ginger.
