I have some land in Meadows NFLD very close to Corner Brook and I would like to grow some organic vegetables, namely carrots, broccoli, corn and strawberries. Can you offer any advice on which varieties would best suit this environment?Your biggest problem is the short growing season in NFLD. The north coast is zone 4, the middle and west coast zone 5 and the south coast zone 6, so vegetables should do well there as long as you choose the quickest maturing ones. Unmodified corn is hard to get nowadays and therefore we only offer one variety. If the 70-80 days to maturity are too long for your growing season, then start the plants in newspaper pots indoors and plant them pot and all when all danger of frost is past. This is of course impractical for a large crop, but just fine for a few plants for home consumption. You will have to worry about racoons, because there won't be other plants to distract them. The strawberries we offer will all survive just fine in zone 5 and you will get the most berries from the climbing variety.
