We purchased 6 Chicago fig trees this fall and they are all doing beautifully, except one, which after a rain has begun to wilt, while the rest are fine. How can i restore the wilted fig tree?I presume the roots of the tree drowned. Dig it up, then add lots of sand to the planting hole plus a good few handfuls of flower of sulphur - in case a fungus got at the roots when they were so wet- then re-plant. Shade the plant with newspapers and sacking until it shows new growth. Mulch really well for the winter.
