I live in the desert and would love to have a successful herb garden. Please tell me what to plant in what to plant and whose help should I seek beside yours. I. Need to purchase plants already growing etc. Help. I need basil, thyme, rosemary, dill, mint, oregano, lavender, etc.You did not mention what type of soil you have in your garden. If it is sandy soil add lots of compost to improve the water holding capacity of your soil. If you have clay, add about 25 to 50% sharp builders sand and again lots of compost. After planting, you must mulch heavily to conserve moisture and reduce soil temperature. Watering when the soil gets dry is a must too. If you get fiercely hot summers try to put your planting bed in an area that has mid-day shade. You may have to plant in tubs that you can move under shade for the summer.
