I was wondering what the possibilities are for growing camellia sinensus indoors. I reside in Saskatchewan so that eliminates growing tea outdoors (at least over winter). I don't have a green house and I was wondering what the possibility of success would be growing tea indoors. Would using a grow light and natural sunlight be enough to keep the bush over winter?
This species needs cool, humid conditions over the winter. An unheated, spare bedroom facing south would suit it quite well. The addition of a Grow-Light would work even better. It is a must if you don't have much natural light.
Secondly, would shipping the seeds to Saskatchewan, Canada, during cold weather damage the seeds at all?
No. The plant can take some frost, so the seeds will not be killed by some freezing in transit.
