Holes in Sage Leaves

I grow sage in a pot on my deck. A lot of the leaves have holes in them. Is there a spray that would be safe to use to get rid of whatever is eating the leaves?

There are several possible culprits including slugs and snails. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the plant and renew it after every heavy rain. Richters sells it as Fossil Dust #T2140. That should discourage slugs and stop any insect. A 10 centimeter (4 inch) strip of copper will stop any slug or snail.
