How Long Do Seeds Last?

Maybe you can help me with this simple question. I ordered some seeds for Richters two years ago, and was hoping to plant some this summer – mainly herbs like Chamomile, Basil, Oregano, some Yarrow, Mullein and a few others. Someone suggested to me that they would no longer be able to germinate because they are old, but I'm not so sure this is true. Can you shed some light?
Many herb seeds last for years. For example basil seeds generally last at least five years, and often more if they are stored in a cool, dry location. Other herbs are much shorter lived, lasting only days or weeks. Of the varieties you list, possibly the chamomile might not germinate well, but the others should be fine.
