I would like to know if you think that it is possible to grow ginseng at la Manicouagan which is up north of Qu?bec. My husband just bought a fishing place there. I think it is zone 3a.
American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) – the variety that is native to Canada – is known to be hardy down to zone 4. This means that in your area, some or all of ginseng planted may not make it through the winter. With winter protection by mulching it may be possible to push ginseng to a colder zone, but there is no reliable information on how far one can go. It is probably worth experimenting, but be prepared for disappointment.
Will your ginseng will be available for next week? We're planning going there on August 11th.
No, our ginseng seeds are not ready until late August or early September.
