I purchased an Egyptian onion about 6 months ago. It's wonderful. Its' starting to produce onions. If I want to plant the ones it has do I let them dry first to multiply my plants?
I presume your plant produced an inflorescence and the flowers on it are turning into little bulbs. Leave them on the mother plant until the stem turns yellow - probably in late summer. This will allow the bulbs to get sufficiently large to easily survive on their own. After separating the bulbils leave them for a few days in a dry spot before planting, so that any wounds can callus over. This will prevent pathogens from getting into the bulblet when you plant it.
