Ginkgo biloba Wintering Indoors

Last spring my husband bought a ginkgo tree from you, and I subsequently found out that it is not hardy for zone 3 so I brought it in for the winter. However, the leaves are yellowing and I'm wondering if this is a natural state and if it is going dormant for the winter anyway, or if it is dying. I did repot it, but it wasn't pot bound, although it did have some ants living in the pot. I've checked it for spider mite, which seems to be a problem for us, but that is not the case for the ginkgo. Can you suggest any other problem, it has been in the window so has plenty of light. I did wonder if it would lose all its leaves as it normally would if left outside.

I have had a ginkgo in my greenhouse for several years and it always loses its leaves in the winter. Try to keep your plant cool while it is leafless and reduce the frequency of watering, so that it gets a proper rest. You will find that it starts leafing out much earlier than anything outside, thereby providing you with a lovely early spring!
