I believe the blue daisy type (woody) plants growing along the roadside at the present time (July) are called wild chicory. I would like to know if I can transplant them into my woodland garden, or if am I able to obtain seed and what success should I expect from either way?The sunniest spot you have will be best for your wild chicory. Chicory is a biennial and by the time it flowers it is almost at the end of its life cycle and transplants very poorly. I would suggest you purchase seeds and start your own plants that will bloom during the second year of their life. Plant another batch of seeds the next spring so that you have some flowers while you wait for the self sown seedlings of your first planting to bloom. The seed is available from Richters as #S1740.
I have an area that is average soil, well drained and sunny from about 10 AM to 6 PM.
