Is wild rice indeed annual plant. If so will it reseed itself efficiently?
Yes, wild rice is an annual. It thrives in shallow standing water along the edges of lakes and ponds. It sets seeds easily, but birds will eat the seeds, and in some situations they may eat the whole crop, leaving none to grow the following year. If you replant some each year, you can help the establishment of a permanent stand in your area.
Wild rice seeds must not dry out or they won't germinate. Richters ships seed fresh from harvest each fall. They should be planted in the mud in shallow water as soon as possible.
