Growing Dictamnus Albus in Birmingham

I am curious about adding Dictamnus albus to a partially shady spot in my herb garden. I have not seen it around here (Birmingham, Alabama) and I wonder if it would survive. The site is breezy, fully shaded in the winter, and I have chives, rosemary, sorrel, and germander growing successfully nearby. We have problems growing plants which require a dormant period. Can you help me or steer me to another source?
The gas plant, Dictamnus albus, prefers full sun in well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil. Its hardiness zone range is 2-9, so it would appear that you should be able to grow it in your area. It does not, however, transplant well, so you should not disturb the roots of purchased plants. It probably does not ship well, so you would need to find a source of potted plants locally.
