Hidradenitis suppurativa

Any suggestions as to how to treat and prevent flareups of this disease. There are no known cure and most doctors diagnose incorrectly. HS Support groups always suggests going to dermatologists, but they keep prescribing antibiotics for secondary infections (which I do not have) and I do not like taking chemicals. As I am from Africa, I was brought up to use nature to heal. Please, Please help.

From a holistic stand point, the first question to be asking is why is the skin, being one of four elimination routes in the body, so taxed and unhappy? As such, a treatment protocol would need to address one's elimination functions - lungs, liver/bowels, kidneys/bladder as well as the skin. Both internal and external treatments could be tried.
Internally, herbs that stimulate liver function could be used, starting in small doses and gradually building up. An example of such herbs may be dandelion root, burdock root or barberry. If your bowels are slow and you are not eliminating at least once per day, then you will need to address that as that can be causing extra stress for the skin.
Alternative herbs, herbs that help to cleanse the blood, could also be used. Again this is to help take the stress of the skin. Such herbs are burdock root, yellow dock root or echinacea root, as well as some nutritive herbs that also have alternative type properties such as nettles, red clover or chickweed. These herbs can be made into a tea.
Diet is also very important. Omega 3 fats are natural anti- inflammatories, as is a diet high in vitamins and minerals and low in refined foods.
Consistency and perseverance are key when treating any skin condition.
