I am wanting to make a liniment that calls for, among other items, chopped dried cayenne chile pepper. The Richters website sells dried chile powder. Could I substitute this instead? For 2 oz. of the chopped dried peppers, how much powder would I use?Yes, you can use powder in place of chopped dried cayenne. Whether the quantity is the same or not depends on the recipe and how the chile is incorporated into final product. But then again there is usually some leeway in the quantities used in external products (more so than in internal products) so you can afford to experiment. I would try using the powder at a 1 to 1 ratio. When you use the liniment for the first time use a smaller dose than the recommended does until you are sure that you can tolerate the product well.
