In my country we give colic and sleepless newborn babies tea made of camomille and anise seeds, or mix of these two. Here in the States doctors prevent anything except mom's milk. My mother advised me what she did with us and her other grandson and some doctors there recommend herbs. Who is right?Doctors in Canada and the United States are not trained in natural therapies, and therefore cannot recommend them. Herbalists and naturopathic doctors do recommend teas of chamomile or fennel for a baby with colic. The tea is to be taken by the nursing mother, not the baby. If the baby is bottle fed, a small, diluted amount of tea may be given to the baby. For information on doses and frequency, please see our website www.richters.com .
