What are the medicinal uses for Calendula?Thomas Bartram, in his book "Bartram's Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine" (available at Richters) lists the actions of calendula as: immune stimulant, anti-protozoa, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-spasmodic, anti-hemorrhage, anti-histamine, anti-bacterial effect particularly against staphylococcus and streptococcus, anti-emetic, anti-cancer, antiseptic, styptic, hemostatic, diaphoretic, anthelmintic, estrogenic activity (extract from fresh flowers), menstrual regulator.
I know it is used in making soothing balms as for chapped lips, mild burns and such but can it be taken internally and for what ailments?
