It is said and written that the leaves of Urtica dioica L. have hypoglycemic property and thus are good for lowering blood sugar in diabetes. I would like to know the dose of the leaves of Urtica dioica as blood glucose lowering agent in diabetes type 2..There is not a lot of scientific research on the effects of herbs with disease. Much of the information we use is based on historical use and results. The normal dose of Urtica dioica (nettles) is 1 ounce of the dried herb, infused in 2 cups of boiling water for 15 minutes; one cup is taken three times daily. Nettles can also be taken as a powder, a tincture, a juice and they can be cooked and eaten like spinach. The most important factor in getting results is obtaining nettles that are picked at the correct time of their growing cycle, and properly prepared. Unless you have access to a nettle patch, your best bet on choosing a preparation is to use the advice of a local herbalist or an educated health store employee.
