I have had diabetes for 40 years. I am currently dealing with gangrene of my great toe on my right foot. I am taking supplements. I have had Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments that have helped increase the blood flow to my feet of which was very minimal which is the reason I developed gangrene. Can you advise me on what supplements you would suggest would help my toe heal more quickly? It has been 8 months since the onset of this problem. Thank you.Thomas Bartram, in "Bartram's Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine" (available at Richters) states that Thuja (Thuja occidentalis) and Echinacea make a powerful combination in diabetic gangrene. Internally, Echinacea strengthens resistance to infection. Thuja exerts a positive effect in any tissue degeneration. Externally, these herbs break down the odour and stimulate the growth of healthy tissue.
