I have type one diabetes. I have been told to take ginger in pill form by a friend. You know everyone knows what to do if they do not have it. Can you tell me anything about ginger and why it would be good for me and my diabetes? I do not want to take anything that might make it worse. I am on an insulin pump. I have had several tests run and my pancreas does not produce insulin anymore. In a previous answer, about diabetes type I, I recommend "The One Earth Herbal Sourcebook", a book by herbalist Alan Tillotson. Tillotson, an expert herbalist, was diagnosed with diabetes type I at the age of 11. Now in his fifties, through understanding the condition, and managing his diet, lifestyle and supplements, he has not suffered any major diabetes-related health problems. Ginger, a stimulant to blood circulation, is one herb that Tillotson might take for a few months a year to ensure that his blood is moving well, preventing diabetic complications.
