I have been studying herbs and using them for about a year now. I understand there are some herbs you don't use together. Can you tell me which ones not to use together?
In order to understand which herbs may or may not be used together, it is necessary to understand the actions of the herbs, and how these actions will affect the person taking them. For example, herbs that stimulate the nervous system may not be indicated for someone who is already highly stimulated, or who is taking herbs or drugs that stimulate the nervous system. Herbs that tend to lower the blood pressure may not be indicated for someone who is already taking herbs or medication to lower blood pressure.
For a good list of the actions of herbs and what combinations may be contraindicated, please see Michael Moore's website at www.swsbm.com. Then choose "manuals" and access the manual "Herbal Medical Contraindications".
