I was told by someone that elderberry extract was good to take if you have allergies. Is that true, and does it need to taken with anything else?Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) is anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and enhances the immune system. It is commonly used for colds, inflammations and influenza and other viruses. In allergies, elder berry may be useful in decreasing an inflammation and supporting the immune system. In allergies, it is important to avoid foods that can cause immune system reactions, and to support the immune system. Your diet and herbal recommendations are dependent on how you are experiencing your allergies ? i.e. whether you are allergic to pollens, animal hair, dust and pollens, or to specific foods or food additives, and whether you experience hay fever, eczema, asthma, itchy skin or migraine. For information on allergies, please see our web site at www.richters.com. Choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "allerg" for the search.
