I just went to the herb store and bought cat's claw and matarique herbs. They say to boil together as a tea for my aches in my muscles. Can you let me know if you have heard about it?
Please see our web page at www.richters.com for information on cat?s claw. Choose Q&A from the main menu, then enter "cat?s claw" for the search. It is anti-inflammatory, so may be helpful if your muscle aches are caused by inflammation.
I don't know matarique. A web search indicates that the roots of matarique (Psacalium decompositum), should be used externally only for muscle and joint pain. This herb contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids. These alkaloids are present in comfrey, and are the reason why internal use comfrey is advised against. Pyrrolizidine alkaloids are believed to have a negative effect on the liver.
