I was told to try kefir for my condition and in ridding candida. What is this? Do you know if I can get it through your website? Didn't see it anywhere, but thought I would ask.
I was only told briefly by someone she puts it in milk and drinks it once a day and helps her headaches and allergies to subside (from eating bad and such).
Kefir is a fermented milk product. It is a "probiotic" like yogurt, that provides beneficial bacteria to the digestive system. It is made by culturing kefir granules (called grains) with milk. The kefir granules are mixed with milk and allowed to stand at room temperature for 24 hours. (Yogurt is made by mixing yogurt starter or natural yogurt in warm milk and keeping it warm for 24 hours).
Probiotics help to balance the population of healthy microbes in the gut, so that organisms like candida will be kept in check. Kefir is a health tonic in many traditional cultures. Probiotics are an important part of a candida healing program. They must be taken every day during your healing program in order to keep the candida population in check.
The web site www.gewo.applet.cz/health/kefir_manual.htm gives information on how to take kefir for healing chronic health conditions.
Kefir is not a herb, and is not sold by Richters.
