I have several symptoms including dry skin, brittle hair, fatigue, lack of energy, mood swings and inability to lose weight. I went to my doctor and had a thyroid test. It came back irregular so I went to an E.N.T. doctor and had the ultrasound and nuclear test done. The doctor stated that my thyroid was borderline therefore didn't wish to medicate me at the time. My question is: can I take herbal remedies for this problem so that I might feel more energetic and have the ability to lose weight and not be so tired all the time? I have visited a local herb dealer and have discussed a supplement. I believe it is called thyroid enhancer. If you have any suggestions I would be very grateful.
I don't recommend taking herbs to stimulate the thyroid until you have consulted with a natural health practitioner who is trained and experienced in thyroid problems. It is very easy to stimulate the thyroid to the extent of creating hyperthyroid symptoms: rapid heart beat, nervous excitability and sweating. After a complete health assessment, a natural health practitioner will recommend a diet and herbs that will help to balance your hormones. It is important to determine what caused the thyroid symptoms before taking even natural medication.
