Can you tell me anything about buchu? It is suppose to help with urinary tract infections and is from Africa.
Buchu, Barosma betulina or Agathosma betulina, is South African plant used as a urinary antiseptic in bladder and kidney inflammations: cystitis (bladder inflammation), pyelitis (inflammation of the pelvis of the kidney), urethritis and prostatitis. It is a safe and effective diuretic, anti-bacterial herb.
Buchu can be used as a tea: one teaspoon of the dried herb to a cup of boiling water, steeped in a covered teapot for 15 minutes, or as a an alcoholic tincture: two to four ml. of a tincture made using 60% alcohol. These preparations must be taken three times daily.
