What is meant by "grains"?A grain is a unit of measure. There are 15.4 grains in one gram, or 438 grains in one ounce.
My father has diabetes and had a quadruple bypass about 4 yrs ago. I was looking up some of the medicinal herbs like Gurmar, Jambal, Kelp, Maitake, etc. and some state to take so many grains with water. My father's blood sugar level has gone up due to the fact that excuses are made for him to eat ("I'm a diabetic and I have to eat") and his appetite has increased a lot this year. Could you please help me? I don't want this disease to take over my father's life. He'll drink hot tea if made for him. What do you recommend? In diabetes, diet is the most important factor in controlling blood sugar. It is helpful to emphasize the good foods that a diabetic can eat. If meals include a wide variety of vegetables, raw and cooked, with a little meat, fish, whole grains and legumes, a person will feel satisfied and not crave food that they should not eat. Sugars and refined grains do not nourish the body or satisfy the appetite.
