Acute Nerve Pain of Unknown Cause

My wife is suffering acute pains from an affliction that causes her nerves throughout her body to flare up in her shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, knees and more. It is especially bad at night when she hurts so much she cannot sleep, crying out constantly. Doctors we have gone to don't know exactly what she has, and only provide pain relief medications – and some of these increase the pain. Blood tests are normal. If you have a suggestion of what herbs might be appropriate, please let me know.
