I have recently found out that I have diabetes type II and high cholestrol and at 45 years old, I am pre- menopausal. I am seeing a doctor who has put me on tricor and prozac (for the hot flashes). My diet is controlling my blood sugars to date (no prescribed medicine yet). My questions: once I get these things under control, are there herbs that could replace these drugs? I need to lose 30 lbs as well and ordered some carb blocker and fat reducer tablets that contian viamin c, biotin, calcium, chromium. Do think this is safe way to take off the weight?Blood sugar imbalances, defective fat and carbohydrate metabolism and inability to lose weight are often caused by the refined grains and sugars, and the poor fats (usually in salad and cooking oils) in the North American diet. The most effective way to balance blood sugar and improve your fat and carbohydrate metabolism is with diet changes. Diet has proven to be more effective than medicine or supplements in reestablishing the fat and carbohydrate metabolism. This diet includes: elimination of all refined grains and sugars; elimination of fruit juices; high vegetable content; whole grains; good quality protein from fish and poultry; good quality oils like extra-virgin olive oil to replace other cooking oils, and flax oil to replace other salad oils.
