I have a chalzion on my right eye lid. I've tried a warm compress, but it doesn't seem to work. I was hoping you might recommend a herbal remedy for me.
A chalzion is the swelling of an eye gland from a duct blockage, possibly following an inflammation of the gland. They usually disappear on their own after a few months.
You can help it along by bathing in a solution of one (5 ml) teaspoon of Barberry bark tincture (Berberis vulgaris) to 1/4 cup boiling water. Allow the mixture to cool before applying. Barberry is anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. Internally, you can improve your immunity with a diet high in fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, supplements of Vitamins C and E and an herbal mixture of Echinacea and herbs that promote natural corticosteroids by supporting the adrenal glands. You may find a herbal corticosteroid mixture at your health food store, or choose from Ginseng, Licorice (not in high blood pressure) and Sarsaparilla.
