I am 39 years old and have had this problem for most of my life. I seem to always have the need to "clear" my throat of excess mucus. It is more of a nuisance than anything. Is there anything to help control this? I often drink a cup of hot water with a 1/4 to 1/2 a fresh lemon squeezed into it, usually upon rising and again at night right before bed. I do find this helps. I have also cut down on dairy as I find it makes the condition more sensitive. Any advice would be wonderful. This may be an allergy or food intolerance, and since you find that it improves when you decrease your dairy intake, you may find that eliminating mucus forming foods such as all dairy products, fatty meats, eggs and processed foods will help. You can substitute soy, rice or almond milk for cow's milk, use soy and rice products to replace some of your meat meals, consume fish and a little chicken instead of pork or beef products, and use whole grains to replace white flour products.
