I have hypoglycemia. Is there an herb that may help keep this condition at a normal level?
Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, is a blood sugar disorder characterized by an overproduction of insulin. Symptoms can include aches and pains, constant hunger, dizziness, headache, fatigue, insomnia, digestive disorders, palpitations, tremour, sweating, nausea or nervous tension. You may notice some of these symptoms if you are late eating a regular meal.
Insulin production can be balanced by: eliminating refined foods, consuming a variety of whole grains, vegetables and legumes, eating smaller meals more frequently, consuming protein with each meal and by avoiding sweet foods, including the very sweet fruits such as bananas, watermelon and dried fruit. Avoid consuming black tea, coffee, soda drinks, sugar, refined flour, cigarette smoking, alcohol, and excess fruit.
Dandelion root and German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) can help to regulate blood-sugar. If stress is a factor, Ginseng supports the adrenal glands to help your system respond better to stressful situations.
