Thank you. The medical study is Chen, S., Sun Y, Chen X., et al. 1997. [Effects of Jiangtangkang on blood glucose, sensitivity of insulin and blood viscosity in non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.] Chung Kuo Chung Hsi Chieh Ho Tsa Chih 17(11):666-8. [Chinese]. I didn't think that this was the same as the pot mum, since it is supposedly only grown in one area of China.
There are, as I am sure you know, many, many variations of Chrysanthemum morifolium. Besides the ornamental cultivars, there are several medicinal forms important in China. One is "chu ju" and another is "hang ju" which are produced in Anhui and Zhejiang provinces. You definitely cannot assume that *all* Chrysanthemum morifolium forms are medicinally equivalent.
