Flax Seed

Can you tell me what flax seed is used for and is it a good antioxidant and are there any known allergic reactions such as itching, rash or bumps on the skin that look like bug bites?

The partially ground seeds are known as "linseed" and they make a good poultice that can be used to treat infections and for rheumatism. The seeds contain valuable oils that have medicinal properties. The Omega variety is said to contain high concentrations of the omega-3 linolenic acid which is a fatty acid essential in human nutrition. Some people drink the seeds with orange juice daily to reduce blood cholesterol.
We are not aware of any special allergic risk of flax seeds.
