Can an individual take Kava Kava during the daytime hours and not feel sleep induced?
According to the book, "Kava: The Pacific Elixir" (available from Richters), kava is a "mild narcotic, a sporific, a diuretic, and a major muscle relaxant." It may induce "sociability, feelings of peace and harmony, and, in large does, sleep, or it may fail to produce relaxation and easy sociability among drinkers."
Generally, the effect is mild and is not sleep inducing, although it may cause sleep indirectly by relaxing the body.
