I am wanting to incorporate more flax into our diet, so am curious what it takes to grow it and harvest it. I see here there are several kinds and have no idea which is the one healthiest for this. Have more shade than sun. We are zone 5, would prefer perennial unless not preferred choice. If it's best to just buy it what should I look for?For dietary use you should grow Linum usitatissimum. The best variety is 'Omega' because of its high omega oil content.
