Ginger Preservation

Could you please tell me the best way to preserve ginger? I have just harvested a lot from my herb garden and I do not know what to do with it. Should I dry it or pickle it?

You could boil it in concentrated sugar solution to candy it or cut it into tiny pieces and dry it for non-sweet use.
